5 Very Vintage Mac Products
Were you one of the lucky nerds who happened to snag an iPhone 3G a week ago when it launched? Did you scoff and make jokes about the possibility of “thinking about picking up an 8GB instead of the 16GB.” Well listen up young whippersnapper and let me tell you about the days before the iPhone, even before the iPod.
One of the first Apple computers to hit the consumer market. This baby had it all 128kb (yes KB) of memory and a graphic user interface. The screen was a eyegasmic, 9 inch monochrome screen 512X342 pixels. Optional 400kb floppy drive for $400 bucks. Wonder if it can run Crysis?
Before the iMac there was the Apple IIc Plus one of the first computers to implement an internal supply unity rather than a “brick.” I prefer the cleaner “iMac” name but back in the days, this was the style. I also love the rainbow apple, they need to bring that back.
Automotive makers model their future cars out of clay and Apple carves their computers out of wood. Notice the one floppy drive slot in the front and one button mouse – ahhh, the good ‘ol days.
I think my school still has these in the library for Internet access. My goodness how hideous this thing looks, especially with the psychedelic colors they have going all over it.
Only die-hard geeks know what the NEXT computer is. For those who aren’t let me give you a brief history lesson in Appledom. Steve Jobs, a long time ago, once left Apple to work on his own project called NEXT computers. They ran the first GUI interface when everyone else was still using DOS. Unfortunately for Jobs, the company folded under and he returned to Apple, but this computer is still a kick ass relic.
